A cruise ship on a tour of the Hawaiian islands rescued a pilot after his plane went down 225 miles off the coast of Maui on Sunday. Holland America Line's cruise ship ms Veendam answered a request for assistance from the United States Coast Guard to rescue the pilot, who had ditched his single-engine Cirrus SR-22 after he experienced a mechanical issue with the fuel system.
