Ah, if only we could dig up that old review written for the now-defunct Los Angeles Herald Examiner when The Love Boat made its debut in 1977! We noted that it would be a hit, and indeed the television show had a 10-year run and a couple made-for-TV movies. And reruns, of course, so newer audiences are familiar with the spunky, funny, sometimes-serious characters who helped bring romance to passengers on Pacific Princess .
